The Interact Club has successfully raised RM33,477 to donate to the welfare organisation Rumah Charis, which serves as both an orphanage and an old folks’ home. Through their fundraiser events, including IU Day, the Club raised funds to support the construction of an extended part of the orphanage to house boys. Last Tuesday, six Interactors visited Rumah Charis to present the donation cheque and spend time with the residents.
IU Day, short for International Understanding Day, is an annual event aimed at promoting global awareness and cultural appreciation. This year’s theme, ‘Slow the Shift,’ was an outstanding success, attracting a large audience of students, and parents. The event highlighted the importance of cultural understanding and unity, furthering the Club’s mission.
The substantial sum of RM33,477 will significantly support Rumah Charis. These funds are earmarked for several critical needs, such as improving the quality of life for residents, providing meals and education, and constructing a new extension to the orphanage to accommodate boys. Additionally, part of the funds will support educational programmes and recreational activities, enhancing the overall well-being of the residents.
In conclusion, the elc community at Sungai Buloh’s efforts have made a meaningful impact on Rumah Charis, showcasing the power of community involvement and charitable giving. This initiative exemplifies the positive change that can be achieved when individuals come together for a common cause.
