On a mid-February weekend, 1st and 2nd Selangor from ELC´s Sungai Buloh and Cyberjaya campuses British Scouting Overseas uniform body joined Scouts from BSA (Boy Scouts of America) and Malaysian Scouts in the first annual MYJam jamboree. Arriving on Friday afternoon at Taman Eko Rimba Komanwel in Rawang, the Scouts set up their tents and got to know their Patrol leaders and the other Scouts. The weekend was action packed; Scouts learned knife and knot skills with BSA including whittling and wood carving. BSO leaders demonstrated First Aid and rescue skills as well as designing and building rockets propelled using three different types of propulsion. Malaysia Scouts skilfully taught orienteering using a compass and map and led a scavenger hunt for all of the groups. Of course, being a Scout camp we could not forget the fun filled campfires at night with singing, skits, jokes, traditional Scouting songs, and some cultural entertainment followed by marshmallows and smores. While this was our first camp it certainly set the bar high for our future activities and we look forward to joining all of our new friends and more at the next MYJam event in 2024.
