Our Gold and Silver JASS awardees put on their adventure gear and headed to Tadom Hills Resort in Banting. The children explored the resort, played frisbee, volleyball and prepared dinner; lighting a barbeque using flint and baking bread over the open fire. After dinner, students played wide games in the dark using searchlights to capture prisoners while guarding bases and capturing enemy flags. The group slept in bamboo huts with mosquito nets near the lake.
The next morning, after a yoga session and breakfast, the bronze students arrived. We started with a safety briefing and then jumped into the lake to play on the kayaks and bamboo rafts. Following a morning snack, we toured the resort and viewed the bamboo farm, Hakka village and then tried our hands at archery and riding mini ATV (all-terrain vehicles). The gold students braved the flying fox and flew all the way across the lake. Once lunch was finished, we ventured back into the water to try out the water slides, high board and tarzan swing with the children also kayaking and rafting. The day ended with a reflection session discussing the day’s adventures and also what we had learned about our new found friends within the programme.
A wonderful experience for everyone involved and we look forward to the next adventure with the next level of the JASS award scheme.
